  • Wide opening
  • Hook and loop fasteners
  • Excellent fit
  • Different sizes

User-friendliness and wearing comfort

The ready-to-use foot dressing can be used on both the left as well as the right foot and is characterised by soft material without hard edges and uncomfortable seams.

  • Secure and lasting fixation of the dressing
  • No pressure points

  • Can be combined with conventional and modern primary wound dressings
  • Quick and easy to remove after application

Secondary dressing with innovative design

Pedilay products made of soft non-woven fabric are easy to slip over the foot.

Elastic

Pedilay® foot bandage consists of a two layered non-woven fabric with incorporated elastic threads. This elasticity allows the ready-to-use foot dressing to be used on abnormally shaped feet, as, for example, is the case with the diabetic foot syndrome.

Adjustable

The ready-to-use foot dressing is flexible and adaptable. This is ensured by the elastic material and the hook and loop fasteners. These can be opened and closed several times, for example to inspect the wound. For a perfect fit, it can be readjusted at any time - by the nursing staff and the patients themselves.

Pedilay Foot can be easily adjusted using hook and loop fasteners.

Skin-friendly

The inner layer of Pedilay® foot consists of a non-woven fabric which is particularly soft. It causes only minimal friction on the skin and features no hard edges or uncomfortable seams. Furthermore, the foot dressing is air-permeable. The product is intended as a secondary dressing to be used on intact skin.

Pedilay® foot: designed for state-of-the-art wound care on the foot

Several factors contribute to the outstanding product properties of Pedilay® foot, which prove themselves in everyday care with every application:

  • The material and its elasticity
  • The design
  • The adaptability

Owing to these properties, the patented secondary dressing can also be used in medical podiatry.

Pedilay Foot covers the toes and is pleasantly soft.

Two layers of non-woven fabric with elastic threads

The soft, skin-friendly and air-permeable non-woven fabric owes its elastic properties to special integrated threads.

This allows the ready-to-use foot dressing - once the correct size has been selected - to adapt perfectly to the anatomical shape of the foot.

This even works in the case of deformities, such as those that often occur in the wound care of diabetic feet.

Designed for a perfect fit

The design was developed in such a manner that the adaptable secondary dressing covers the foot up to the ankle.

It features a wide opening at the back of the foot. The user-friendly hook and loop fasteners facilitate application.

Pedilay® foot can be used on both the left as well as the right foot. The foot dressing is available in different sizes.

The key: the hook and loop fastener system

Hook and loop fasteners are attached to the opening. This allows Pedilay® foot to be applied securely without additional fixation plasters.

Due to the hook and loop fasteners, this patented secondary dressing can also be opened and reclosed at all times.

For example, this makes it easier to inspect the wounds - and unlike with tubular bandages, it is therefore not necessary to change the dressing on the foot. This also allows fixation to be readjusted.

Convenient for physicians, nursing staff as well as patients

Pedilay® foot significantly simplifies work for the users: applying this ready-to-use secondary dressing is easy, quick and requires no accessories. For patients with a chronic wound, wound care with Pedilay® foot as a secondary dressing means a better quality of life. The reason being that this dressing resembles a stocking which also encloses the toes. Patients usually find this pleasant, as they no longer have to put on a stocking over the dressing. This state-of-the-art type of wound care also makes everyday practice easier in medical podiatry.

Pedilay® foot in practice

Applying Pedilay® foot bandage is so quick and easy

Would you like to know more?

Pedilay® foot can be used easily, quickly and without requiring a great deal of expertise. And wound monitoring is also uncomplicated due to the hook and loop fasteners.

Go to instructions

Future-orientated wound care in times of the nursing crisis

The fact that Pedilay® foot is truly easy and extremely quick to use has a huge impact on the quality of care. This is because many of the problems which are commonplace with conventional secondary dressings on the foot do not arise in the first place with this innovative, patented dressing.

Pedilay® foot bandage can also be applied safely by laypersons

What is cumbersome with conventional dressings and requires a considerable amount of expertise is child's play with Pedilay® foot. Even the patients themselves or their relatives are able to apply the foot dressing safely, which is particularly beneficial in the long term in the case of chronic wounds.

Unlike tubular bandages, the hook and loop fasteners make it possible to examine the wound without changing the dressing, and should this be necessary, it can be done very quickly and effortlessly. There is basically nothing one can do wrong, as the product comes complete with Instructions for Use.

Pedilay® foot therefore minimises the risk of excessive compression or the formation of wrinkles which can cause pressure sores.

The disadvantages of conventional secondary dressings on the foot

Complicated: The safe application of conventional secondary dressings is a complex procedure and requires comprehensive training.

Prone to error: Improper application leads to unnecessary dressing changes. There is also a risk of excessive compression or damage to the skin due to wrinkling, which can lead to pressure sores.

Material-intensive: The dressing must be modelled and cut as required, and fixation plasters and scissors are also required. Material leftovers must be disposed of.

Everyone involved benefits from this patented innovation

Medical institutions such as hospitals and care services can optimise their care and save on materials.

Professional users such as physicians and nursing staff gain more time for other tasks and can examine the wound quickly and without changing the dressing.

Patients experience a pleasant wearing comfort and as a consequence improved quality of life. Relatives also experience relief.

Pedilay® foot: applying the foot bandage correctly

It all depends on the correct size

The ready-to-use foot bandage fits correctly if there are no cavities, gaps or wrinkles and the material does not exert any compression. In other words, it must not be too loose or too tight. As application in itself is very simple, the choice of the correct size plays a decisive role.

Pedilay® foot may only be applied to intact skin - wounds must therefore first be covered with a wound dressing. The circumference of the primary dressing and the wound dressings may make it necessary to adjust the size. If the feet are very voluminous, swollen, malformed or have been partially amputated, this should also be taken into account when choosing the size.

We recommend to pull on Pedilay® foot sitting or lying down. A change is required daily for acute, infectious wounds, otherwise if soiled, overstretched or torn, and also every time the primary dressing is changed. Unlike with tubular bandages, it is not absolutely necessary to change the dressing to check the wound - because the hook and loop fasteners can be reclosed.

FAQ – our answers to frequently asked questions about Pedilay® foot

Why can Pedilay® foot reduce material costs in care?

Changing dressings on the foot takes a considerable amount of time with conventional secondary dressings. Competent nursing staff spend a long time shaping bandages with scissors and fixation plasters. Pedilay® foot is a ready-to-use secondary dressing that does not need to be cut to size - hence there is no leftover material that needs to be disposed of in an additional work step.

This ready-to-use dressing can be applied quickly and easily and secured with integrated hook and loop fasteners. The nursing staff are more quickly available for other duties. In addition, Pedilay® foot is reclosable so that inspection of the wound does not necessarily require a change of dressing.

What is the purpose of a secondary dressing on the foot?

A secondary dressing protects and fixates primary dressings and wound dressings. A perfect fit is important to ensure this. With conventional dressings, modelling requires a considerable amount of time and skill. And one requires scissors and fixation plasters.

The ready-to-use Pedilay® foot secondary foot dressing can be applied quickly and easily owing to its large opening, elasticity and hook and loop fasteners. It is available in different sizes, therefore finding the right fit is not a problem. Owing to the hook and loop fasteners, patients can even readjust it themselves.

What happens if a dressing is applied incorrectly on the foot?

If a foot bandage is not applied properly, there is a risk of excessive compression as well as the formation of wrinkles, which can lead to pressure sores. Shearing forces and constrictions can result in pressure marks and skin damage. Wounds heal less well and patients suffer from additional pain.

With the Pedilay® foot secondary dressing, the risk is reduced to a minimum, as even laypersons can apply this dressing correctly.

For which patients is Pedilay® foot intended?

Pedilay® foot is used as a secondary dressing for the long-term treatment of people with chronic wounds or wound healing disorders. Examples include the diabetic foot syndrome, caring for pressure sores or wounds following foot surgery.

What does a foot dressing consist of?

A chronic wound on the foot is initially treated with a wound dressing, patch or primary dressing. This is then fixated with a secondary dressing such as a tubular bandage or the innovative product Pedilay® foot. The use of conventional secondary dressings requires considerable expertise and is time-consuming.

The ready-to-use Pedilay® foot dressing, on the other hand, is very easy and uncomplicated to apply. It is made of non-woven fabric with integrated elastic threads and features practical hook and loop fasteners.

How does one apply a foot dressing?

A secondary dressing is used to fixate a wound dressing or a primary dressing to the foot. Conventional secondary dressings must be shaped. This requires not only scissors and plaster strips, but also expertise and time. The elastic and adaptable Pedilay® foot bandage is ready to use and can be applied without accessories - even by laypersons.

Which wound care for the diabetic foot?

Diabetes can lead to the so-called diabetic foot syndrome and thus to diabetic foot ulcers (colloquially known as "diabetes foot") - i.e. open, poorly healing wounds. They must be treated and bandaged regularly. Special wound dressings are used for this purpose, which are fixated with secondary dressings. It is important here to avoid pressure points as much as possible.

When applying the ready-to-use Pedilay® foot dressing as a secondary bandage, the convenient hook and loop fasteners minimise application errors and thus pressure points.

How often should dressings be changed for a diabetic foot?

The Pedilay® foot secondary dressing should be changed daily in case of acute, infectious wounds. Otherwise only if soiled or whenever the material is overstretched or torn. Furthermore, every time the primary dressing or the wound dressing underneath is changed.

How often should dressings be changed for pressure sores?

If the wound on the foot is acutely infected, the Pedilay® foot secondary dressing must also be changed daily. Otherwise, always when it is soiled, overstretched or torn. And, of course, whenever the primary wound dressing is replaced.

How often should dressings be changed for chronic wounds on the foot?

As long as the wound is infected, the dressings must be changed daily - not only the wound dressing, but also the fixating secondary dressing, such as Pedilay® foot. If there is no acute infection, it is sufficient to replace the secondary dressing in the event of soiling, overstretching or tears. Also always when changing the primary dressing.
