FAQ – our answers to frequently asked questions about Pedilay®
Wound manager Caroline Ockert on Pedilay in practice:
„My name is Caroline Ockert and I am a wound care manager in the field force and look after many patients with acute and chronic wounds in their own homes, in nursing homes or in my outpatient wound clinic here in Halle an der Saale.
The biggest challenges in my job are the constantly growing numbers of patients - in particular older people with chronic wounds, together with the wound documentation that is involved as a matter of principle. This means that we have less and less time for more and more patients. We wound care managers would certainly like to see innovative products which can be applied quickly, where we can provide good guidance to the nursing services, but where there is also the possibility of instructing and guiding the patient's relatives, so that fewer mistakes are made when applying the secondary wound dressing.
Against this background, we are obviously very interested in innovative new products and solutions such as the Pedilay® series. The Pedilay® foot is extremely easy to apply, even by non-medical personnel. It's super quick to apply, is soft and you can use it on both the right and left foot - no need to pay attention to which foot as there is only one dressing. It is available in different sizes and can always be readjusted.
And of course, the fact that we can easily instruct the nursing staff and also the patient's relatives is a huge time-saver for us, as we only have to show them the procedure once. With this secondary dressing, it is also very easy for the patient to slip into a normal shoe.
I prefer to use the secondary foot dressing for chronic wounds such as an open dorsum of the foot or a decubitus ulcer on the heel. The Pedilay® leg is super easy to work with. The option of readjustment means that we can apply it without creases. And it is a major benefit for relatives and the patients who treat their wounds themselves. This lets them avoid mistakes, such as constrictions which can form if not applied free of creases. For me, this is an ideal secondary dressing, for example for ulcers on the lower leg or post-operative wounds on the lower leg with impaired wound healing. And for me personally, the Pedilay® products make my daily work easier. They are lightweight, secure and easy to use."
